AYC's purpose is to empower young people to make positive choices for themselves.

Auburn Youth Centre Inc. is an independent charitable organisation governed by a Board of Directors who are elected by AYC members. AYC was established in 1986.

AYC provides counseling, social, educational and recreational services for young people aged 12 to 24 who have a connection with Auburn and surrounding suburbs.

Through these programs, AYC aims to remove the barriers confronting young people. Particularly barriers associated with culture, language, education, economic disadvantage, established stereotypes and racism.

AYC's work is made possible with support from government, corporate, and local community partners. AYC also thanks all the people who volunteer their time and expertise to the Centre and to the youth of Auburn.

AYC's major projects are funded by:

Department of Immigration and Citizenship; Department of Family and Housing, Community Services, and Indigenous Affairs; and NSW Department of Community Services.

 

AYC provides a range of programs and activities for young people. Some of these are:

Drop In

A safe and supervised space where young people can come to relax, play games (pool,
PS2, Internet, Table Football, Table Tennis) , socialise and have fun.
Girls Day

Thursday afternoons are a girls only space at AYC. There is access to games and
computers, also activities including art, craft and girly stuff.
Homework Assistance

Young people can come in for help with any study or research. Professional tutors
are on hand to provide assistance and supervision.
10/03/2010 - Auburn Youth Centre has a fantastic position available

The Job- Full time, 10-6 Monday to Friday, working with young people aged 12-24 in Auburn. Activities include; indoor and outdoor recreation, music and art, group work, small project management, homework assistance, and casework.

What You Need - Lots of energy, ideas, passion for youthwork, teamwork skills, initiative, self motivation, tertiary qualifications, and experience - ideally at least 3 years.

What AYC Provides - A flexible, supportive, encouraging and relaxed workplace where you can develop your skills. Salary is SACS 3, year level negotiated, plus full salary sacrifice options.

11/11/2009 - AYC's annual general meeting was held on the 11th of November onsite. The board of management presented the annual report for 2008-2009.
 
01/10/2009 - The Management and Staff at AYC are delighted to introduce Vanessa Montoya to the position of Adolescent and Family Counsellor at AYC.
Vanessa brings several years of experience as a drug and alcohol counsellor to the position, and is currently completing her registration as a psychologist.
